Startup Incubators

There are several entrepreneur programs, startup incubators, and startup accelerators that specialize in social entrepreneurship located across the country. Here are some of my favorites.

Every year The Unreasonable Institute invites 25 entrepreneurs from all over the world to come and live together for six weeks in Boulder, Colorado. These entrepreneurs receive training and build long-term relationships with 50 world-class mentors. In the process, they also form relationships and build their businesses with 20 investment funds, receive legal advice & design consulting, and pitch to hundreds of potential investors and partners. The competition is stiff and its a long and challenging process to be selected, but they are one of the best in the world.

Hub Ventures helps high caliber entrepreneurs build their world-changing startups better and faster.  They do this through 12-week cohort cycles at Hub Bay Area, during which participating companies receive seed funding and engage in best-in-class mentorship, collaborative sessions with program peers, and workshops and speaker events on topics relevant to impact oriented startups.  Hub Ventures also connects companies to their extensive network of investors during the program and at Investor Day, an opportunity to pitch to hundreds of Bay Area investors.

Starting Bloc isn’t exactly an incubator but it does work to develop the leader/entrepreneur who is the driving force behind the social organization. The provide several different fellowships and programs, all designed to develop leaders who will serve as agents of social change. Fellows also gain access to is a tight-knit community of social innovators based across the country and the world.
